Brenda started volunteering with animal groups in 1993 and considers it her true passion. This has included several municipal animal shelters, a couple spay/neuter clinics and a special needs dog rescue. She has an AA in Business Administration and has worked on the business side of the veterinary field since 1997.
After reading about how animals are treated on factory farms, Brenda became vegetarian in 1999. She transitioned to vegan shortly after because she learned that the animals used for dairy, eggs and other animal products suffer even more in most cases than those raised for meat.
In August, 2020, Brenda started volunteering at One Living Sanctuary and it quickly became her second home with a new farm animal family and vegan community. She spends every Saturday at the sanctuary, cleaning up and feeding, grooming and socializing the animals. At home, she meticulously maintains our financial records, animal history list and website.
When not working or volunteering, Brenda enjoys playing soccer with a pick up group her and her husband organize. She also enjoys softball, board games, hiking, going to comedy shows and concerts, going dancing and spending time with family and friends. She has a senior American Bulldog / pit bull mix named Kaedin, who makes her smile every day. Kaedin and her former dog, Odie, were great big brothers to the 20 foster dogs who passed through their lives.
